YOUNG & ALIVE INITIATIVE
We are a vibrant community of young professionals dedicated to advancing sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) within our societies and beyond. Since 2017, Young and Alive Initiative (YAI), a non-profit feminist organization, has been committed to fostering a society where young people enjoy full access to Sexual Reproductive Health information and services and can fully exercise their rights.
Our mission is achieved through mobilizing adolescents and youth for robust and supportive SRHR systems, leveraging talents and skills in innovation, art, and ICT to advocate, build capacity, and change behaviors, ensuring youth access to SRHR services and information.
Overall Purpose of the Position
The Administration and Finance Director will lead and oversee all administrative and financial aspects of Young and Alive Initiative, ensuring efficient operational support and financial health. This role involves strategic planning, financial management, operational administration, and internal controls to support the organization’s goals and initiatives in promoting SRHR.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and implement financial strategies, plans, and budgets in alignment with the organization’s objectives.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and controls, and manage organizational budgets, forecasts, and reports.
Oversee administrative functions to ensure efficient and consistent operations as the organization scales.
Supervise the HR functions, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
Manage relationships with partners, suppliers, and government agencies.
Provide strategic advice and financial analysis to the CEO and board members.
Implement and maintain systems for effective financial management and internal controls.
Coordinate with different departments to ensure the organization’s financial and administrative systems are supporting operational needs.
Enhance administrative and operational systems, processes, and policies in support of the organization's mission.
Monitor and manage expenditures within allotted budgets.
Required Qualifications & Experience
A passion for youth leadership, gender equality and sexual reproductive health issues
At least 3-5 years of professional experience in financial management and administration, preferably in the non-profit sector
Proven experience in strategic planning and organization development
Strong understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field; a Master’s degree is preferable
Language
Strong verbal and written communication skills in Swahili and English.

Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English and Swahili
High organizational ability and excellent time management skills.
Strong project management skills
Experience using participatory methodology in training and capacity development
Good presentation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Good basic computer and internet skills
Good report writing skills
Being a resident of Dar es Salaam or having knowledge of the region is an added advantage
