About Young and Alive initiative

We are a community of young professionals, passionate about advancing Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights within our societies and beyond. Since 2017, we operate as a non-profit feminist organization, registered in Tanzania by the name, Young And Alive Initiative.

Our vision is to see a society where young people have full access and full choice of Sexual Reproductive Health information and Services and can exercise their rights. We are doing that by mobilizing adolescents and youth for solid and supportive Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights systems.

Our approach is leveraging our own talents and skills such as innovation, art, and ICT to advocate, build capacity, and change behaviors to ensure youth’s access to Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights services and information.





ABOUT BRIGHT (Building right for improving health in Tanzania)

The Building Right for Improvement Health in Tanzania( BRIGHT) The BRIGHT Project will be implemented for over 7 years in the Tabora region and will target the 8 councils. The BRIGHT Project is funded by the Government of Canada Global Affair (GAC) And is implemented by Nutrition International, (NI) In a joint partnership with, Engender health( EH), Young and Alive Initiative(YAI), Prosperous Life and Health Initiative(PLHI) and Government of Tanzania.

The BRIGHT Project will Use different approaches including Youth centered feminist and right-based interventions. The BRIGHT project aimed to integrate adolescents' sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) and nutrition care practice. It is designed to provide young/and or pregnant girls an integrated package of the SRH and nutrition services including family planning / Contraception, Gender-based violence(SGBV) prevention, and protective service. It will also focus on adolescents friendly antenatal, postnatal, and post abortion care, nutrition support, counselling, and the promotion of life skills.

Young and Alive are seeking a team of 3 Council Coordinators and 1 Project Officer to facilitate the implementation of this project.

Project Officer - BRIGHT project:


  1. Identification

Position Title : Project Officer , Building Rights for Improved Health of Girls in Tanzania” (BRIGHT) ,Location Tabora , Date of opening for application 28 - October- 2022 , Date of deadline 15- November -2022, Number of position 1.


Qualifications & Experience

  • A young person from the age 18 -35 years old with a minimum qualification of a bachelor or Masters degree in social sciences, public health, gender studies, medicine, nursing and or project management.

  • Having experience working or volunteering in sexual and reproductive health projects, gender, Nutrition, youths, and or research.

  • Good communication skills, team working, youth engagement, culturally sensitive and nonpartisan individuals.

  • Good in social media communication and engagements or having courses in digital skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Good basic computer and internet skills.

  • Fluent in speaking Swahili & English

  • Good Swahili & English writing skills

  • Good report writing skills

  • Being a resident of Tabora, or having knowledge of the region is an advantage

Roles and responsibilities

  • The project officer will work as a technical youth engagement and inclusion advisor in the BRIGHT project

  • Working with the BRIGHT team in Tabora on all deliverables in hand with Project lead.

  • Working with, supporting, overseeing, and leading other project coordinators in all project deliverables in councils including activities and reporting

  • Maintaining the working relationship with services providers, stakeholders, and the community in Tabora.

  • Supporting monitoring and evaluation activities of the Bright project.

  • Working according to the work plan of the BRIGHT project

  • Preparing reports and working in solidarity with the other Bright team.

  • Attend meetings as requested and join other development activities of the organization.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Management team and Bright team

Council coordinators - BRIGHT project : TABORA

  • Maintaining the working relationship with services providers, stakeholders, partners, and the community in Tabora.

  • Supporting and working collaboration on monitoring and evaluation activities of the Bright project.

  • Working according to the work plan of the BRIGHT project and other related plans.

  • Preparing reports and working in solidarity with the other Bright team.

  • Attend meetings as requested and join other development activities of the organization and of BRIGHT.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Management team and Bright team.
